Participation guidance
Safety Guidelines
A pacing match is a starting point for coordination, not a safety certification or guarantee. Use judgment before sharing information, meeting someone, or participating in an effort.
Before the effort
Confirm identity, route, date, target, meeting place, communication plan, emergency contact plan, event rules, weather, and cancellation expectations. Meet in a public place and tell someone where you will be. Organizers should confirm permits, insurance, staffing, course access, and official pacer rules.
Health and performance
Choose goals within your own training and health limits. Stop or seek help for warning signs such as chest pain, fainting, severe shortness of breath, confusion, heat illness, or injury. Call local emergency services when immediate help is needed. Cadence and its users do not replace qualified medical advice.
Trust signals are limited
Profile review, race results, connected activities, ratings, or labels can be incomplete, outdated, or mistaken. They are not background checks, medical clearances, professional licenses, or promises that a person will perform safely.
Report a concern
Do not use Cadence for harassment, discrimination, threats, unsafe conduct, fraud, prohibited course access, bib sharing, or evading organizer rules. Save relevant details and report concerns to mark@makingthingsforsmiles.com. Contact emergency services first for an immediate threat.
