Privacy Policy

Cadence is a human-pacing marketplace operated by Making Things For Smiles, LLC. This policy explains the information Cadence handles when you create an account, request or offer pacing, organize a pace team, pay for a booking, receive a payout, or connect a fitness source.

Questions, access requests, corrections, exports, and deletion requests can be sent to mark@makingthingsforsmiles.com.

Information we collect

Account information includes your name, email, authentication records, selected roles, approximate location, and organizer details you provide. Marketplace information includes pacing targets, availability, applications, messages, event details, and any budget or compensation preference.

If you choose to connect or upload a fitness source, Cadence may receive running activities, race results, dates, distances, times, pace, source identifiers, and authorization tokens. Do not upload another person's fitness record without permission.

For paid bookings, Stripe collects payment and payout onboarding information. Cadence receives transaction identifiers, customer and connected-account identifiers, amounts, currency, status, refunds, disputes, and limited contact or business information. Cadence does not receive full card numbers or bank-account credentials from Stripe.

How we use information

We use information to operate accounts, publish the listings you choose to make public, match runners and pacers, process bookings and payouts, prevent abuse, provide support, improve reliability, and comply with tax, accounting, legal, and safety obligations.

Connected fitness data is used for the signed-in user's private proof tools. Cadence does not display Strava activity data or Strava-derived activity summaries to other users, sell connected fitness data, or use it for targeted advertising.

Sharing and service providers

We share information only as needed with infrastructure, authentication, database, email, connected fitness, payment, analytics, and support providers; with other users when you intentionally publish marketplace content or enter a booking; or when required for safety, fraud prevention, legal process, or a business transfer. Service providers receive only the information needed for their role.

Your controls and retention

You can disconnect Strava from Connected proof. Disconnecting requests provider revocation and deletes the locally stored Strava activities and tokens associated with that connection. You may also request an account export, correction, or deletion by email.

We retain account and marketplace records while an account is active and as reasonably needed for security, disputes, tax and accounting records, legal compliance, and backup recovery. We delete or de-identify records when they are no longer needed, subject to lawful retention requirements.

Security, children, and changes

Cadence uses access controls, encrypted transport, restricted service credentials, signed payment webhooks, and encrypted connected-account tokens. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects personal information or fitness data, Cadence will follow notification requirements that apply.

Cadence is for adults 18 and older and is not directed to children. Material policy changes will be posted here with a new effective date and, when appropriate, presented for renewed acceptance.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information and to appeal a denied request. Cadence does not sell personal information or connected fitness data and does not use it for targeted advertising.

Fitness providers have their own policies. Strava users should also review Strava's privacy policy. See the Cadence Terms for additional conditions.

Stripe users should also review Stripe's Privacy Policy.
